The workshop will cover:
- selecting the right blade and a snath for the job and learning to make the best use of what you've got
- setting up a scythe and a snath
- peening with a jig and an introduction to freehand peening with hammer and anvil
- sharpening
- mowing techniques
- how to avoid damaging the blade and how to repair chips and cracks
Bring a scythe if you own one to get pointers on how to adjust the snath and the blade, so it fits for best result. However, if you bring an old outfit with a rusty blade and ceased adjusting parts, we won't have time to deal with those.
Honor your tools and in return, they will serve you well.
For those who consider to purchase a scythe, please let me know in advance so I can get your mowing outfit ready prior to the workshop.
